New Ways to Sell Aerobics

The health and fitness industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. This is apparent by the sheer number of gyms which are springing up in industrial parks, city centres and in many hotels. In order to rekindle the interests of many ‘wanna-be’ fitness fanatics (also known as ‘potential paying customers’), fitness clubs and trainers are coming up with a number of weird and wonderful ways of getting people moving.
One upon a time we had a choice of jogging, weight training or aerobics and little else. However in recent years fitness instructors have introduced boxercise (aerobics with boxing gloves), zumba dancing (hoola without the hoop) and even pole dancing (without a paying audience). In the last few years the number of gyms and fitness clubs which offer pole dancing in London as an exercise class has increased ten-fold. And the numbers offering boxercise and zumba classes has also increased considerably.
This trend shows no signs of ebbing and in coming years it may only get worse. Pole dancing in London has become so popular as a form of exercise that even some of the cities many strip clubs are offering pole dancing classes during the day! Obviously some of these newfangled workout routines will be unheard of in coming years and replaced with new ideas designed to get the reluctant fanatic back in the gym. So what’s next? Lap dancing as a fitness routine? A hybrid of boxercise and zumba called zumboxercise? We can only speculate as to what the future holds, although one thing we can be sure of is that fitness instructor will continue to coin new phrases in order to sell good old fashioned aerobics to a new audience.
